Editorial Standards
UK AI News is edited by a named, accountable human. This page sets out how we work: where our facts come from, how we check them, how we use AI, how we fix mistakes, and why advertising never touches our coverage.
Sourcing
We favour primary sources: a company’s own announcement, a regulatory filing, an investor’s statement, a research paper, a named spokesperson. When we build on another outlet’s reporting, we say so and we link to the original. Our value is context and connection — placing each story in the wider picture of UK AI — not claiming exclusives or passing off others’ work as our own.
Verification
We check the specifics — figures, dates, who led a round, who founded a company — against the most authoritative source we can find. Where a number comes only from a third-party database rather than a disclosed, official figure, we say it is reported or estimated rather than stating it as confirmed fact. When a story is still awaiting final confirmation, it is held back or flagged until we are satisfied. We would rather be right and a little later than first and wrong.
How we use AI
We are an AI news site, so we will be plain about our own use of it. We use AI tools to help scan for stories and prepare initial drafts. Nothing is published automatically. Every article is researched, fact-checked against primary sources, edited, and approved by a human editor — Leon Mallett — before it goes live. The judgement about what is worth covering, what is true, and how it is framed is human, and the byline reflects that: a real person stands behind every piece.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. If we get something wrong, we fix it and — for anything beyond a trivial typo — note on the article what changed and when. If you spot an error, please tell us at [email protected] or [email protected], with a link to the primary source where you can, and we will look into it quickly.
Independence
Advertising and editorial are kept strictly separate. Paid placements — sponsored directory listings — are always labelled as such. Our editorial “featured” picks are chosen by us and are never for sale. Paying for a listing buys visibility in the directory; it does not buy coverage, positive articles, or the removal of unflattering ones. Advertising never influences what we report or how we report it. See our advertising page for how this works.
